Better with Scattering lectures are coming to you online…

Hello everyone. To help you keep the scattering spirit alive in these trying times, I am making the lectures of our recent “Better with Scattering” workshop available online. This is happening at a rate of about 1 video per day, and 7 lectures are already available in a special playlist for the occasion. Stay tuned for new videos coming up in the next days!

With the imminent threat of the virus, we decided at the last moment to change the format of the workshop to a hybrid live/online workshop via Zoom. This meant that we had transformed the meeting room into a sort of mission control, with laptops and paraphernalia everywhere, in addition to a few participants who could not join online, and most of the participants would join in via our Zoom meeting (even the ones in the building itself). Fortunately, this was successful, with only minor technical issues. We did end up with a large amount of spare lunches, which were distributed as good as possible to the remaining people on campus. Another big omission was the lack of networking and coffee meetings, but that is a price well worth paying for flattening the curve.

Based on the success of the online format, we also decided to launch a weekly lecture on scattering and diffraction, called #theLightStuff. More information on that in this post. These videos will be made available as well, so that we can build up a nice library of lectures. See you there!
